Karnataka to establish CoEs in automotive technology, space tech and gaming

Karnataka is set to establish three new Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in automotive technology, space technology, and gaming, bringing the total to five for the year. These CoEs aim to address industry challenges, promote research, and support the growth of startups and MSMEs in these sectors. The Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society has invited proposals to select partners for these initiatives, with the state government investing Rs 10 crore per CoE over five years.

The CoEs will focus on advanced R&D, product testing, and prototyping to enhance local manufacturing and infrastructure. The gaming CoE will feature an e-sports arena and a game testing lab, aiming to capitalize on the booming global gaming market. Additionally, the space technology CoE will foster collaboration between academia and industry, supporting research and the development of space startups.

Over the next five years, the space CoE plans to train a growing number of students and facilitate the co-creation of innovative solutions. Overall, these initiatives are expected to bolster Karnataka’s position in key technological sectors.
